He Is Risen!

Today is the most glorious day on the Christian calendar. Today is Resurrection Day, or Easter, the day when Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, was resurrected from the dead. His resurrection conquered death forever and provides the foundation of our faith. He completed God’s promised plan of salvation and offers a sure promise of our own resurrection into new, glorified bodies in our Heavenly home. Jesus Christ, our eternal priest and king, now sits at the right hand of God the Father, interceding for us night and day. It is through His sacrifice of shed blood, God’s grace, and our faith in Him and Him alone that God permits us to enter Heaven when we die (Ephesians 2:8-9, John 14:6).

There is no doubt Jesus died on the Cross. Even secular historians record this event. By sealing the tomb and posting a Roman guard, Pontius Pilate made sure the disciples couldn’t steal Jesus’ body and make a false claim of resurrection. Instead, the secure, protected grave only served to prove definitively that divine resurrection was the only possible explanation. All Pilate or the Pharisees needed to do was to produce His body, but they couldn’t, and it was not for lack of trying!

Without the perfect sacrifice of Jesus Christ and His resurrection, our faith crumbles. As Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 15:14 and 15:17, “And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith.” Further, “And if Christ has not been raised,, your faith is futile; you are still in your sin.”, and sin is our worst problem. “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our LORD.” (Romans 6:23). Jesus died to eliminate the sting of death.

Christ’s resurrection stands as the cornerstone of our faith. Other men may have declared they would die and return to life, but only Jesus Christ has done it. No other man has declared Himself the Son of God and then conquered death by resurrecting Himself. Moreover, when Jesus died, He fulfilled about 300 prophecies, proving once again that God’s Word, the Holy Bible is true.

Our God is a God of promises. He promised the coming of the Messiah and He delivered. We know from this fulfillment and many others that He will fulfill the promise of bodily resurrection for us and He will bring us into His Kingdom if we believe (John 3:16). He is also the only God of promises. No other religion has the promise of eternal life through faith; all others require works. This glorious assurance, confirmed by Jesus’ resurrection, provides all we need to know that He will be true to His Word.

If you haven’t accepted Jesus Christ as your LORD and Savior, use the opportunity of today to do so. Without being born of the Spirit and having Him as your advocate, you will be eternally separated from God (John 3:5).

If you accept Jesus Christ today, you also gain the blessing of being able to celebrate your salvation on the same day every year. Whereas Resurrection Day falls on different days of the Christian calendar, it always falls on the same day of the Jewish calendar, the 17th of Nisan. Nisan is the first month of the year, signifying newness and rebirth. Why not simplify your life and secure your eternity now by being reborn through Him?

I pray your Resurrection Day is joyous. May you be filled with peace, hope, and gladness in the Work He did for you. He is risen, Halleluiah! Jesus Christ has been raised from the dead, and in Christ we are made alive! Although sin entered the world through Adam and condemned us to death, through belief in Christ Jesus there is no longer condemnation (Romans 8:1), but total forgiveness. For those who truly believe, there is nothing in all creation that is able to separate us from the love of God that is Jesus Christ our LORD (Romans 8:39). Praise Him today for that gift!

Jeff, I have enjoyed and have been encourged by your “I AM Minisstries for many years. When you were doing the ministry daily, “I thought”, how could you do this every day? I guess only with the Holy Spirit’s help. Again, thank you so much for all you do and have done for God’s Kingdom, and may you and your family enjoy good health, and the joy and peace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

You are correct: it was only through the strength of the Holy Spirit that I was able to do a daily devotional. May God receive all the glory!

Jack, I remember you from Grace Church and wish you well at NCPC.
